Since July 2025, the battery energy storage system (BESS) at solar park Vossenberg in Laarbeek has been fully operational. This is TPStorage’s first project to be successfully commissioned. The BESS was installed in January 2025. After a construction period lasting until April, the test phase was successfully completed in July and the system was put into operation.
The BESS has a capacity of 1 MW and a storage capacity of 2.15 MWh. The installation consists of several battery cabinets in combination with two inverters and one transformer.
The battery charges during the day with solar energy generated at solar park Vossenberg. In the evenings, this stored energy is fed back into the grid. This method of energy management is also known as load shifting, or deferred delivery, and contributes to a more stable and efficient energy system.
TPStorage works together with Scholt Energy to optimally control both the battery and the solar park. They trade the battery on various markets.
The combination of solar generation and energy storage, a so-called co-located battery system, ensures:
- Reduction of grid congestion
- Better utilization of the grid connection
- Maximum utilization of locally generated solar energy
With Battery Vossenberg, TPStorage is taking an important step towards a future-proof energy system in the region.
